Ken & I had a great time touring Dole Plantation. It is a must do if you are on the island,
who doesn't know the Dole name.
A little bit about Dole
James Drummond Dole arrived in Hawai‘i in 1899, holding newly minted Harvard degrees in business and agriculture, and eager to prove that Hawai‘i could take part in the boom times for farming that were sweeping across America. The following year, he bought a 61-acre tract of land here in Wahiawa, where he established the first plantation —and he eventually became known across America as the Pineapple King.

These are Rainbow Eucalyptus trees. They greet you in the parking area and can be seen on the grounds.
They are even more vibrant and beautiful in person.
The Dole plantation has a restaurant &
a large shopping area where you can get everything pineapple and more.
You'll need that ATM to enjoy some of the other attractions.
You can traverse a maze, tour a tropical garden
or take a ride on the Pineapple Express.
We took the train and got a great tour of the very large plantation.
I was surprised how many things they grow there.
A little about growing pineapples
Each crown is planted by hand. A skilled planter can plant more than 10,000 pineapple crowns a day—nearly half an acre.Pineapples are also harvested by hand.
The first crop, called a "plant crop," takes 18–20 months to be ready for harvest. The next crop, called the "first ratoon," takes another 15 months.
Unfortunately they were between crops at this location so the fields were bare.
Banana plants- look at the funky red bud at the bottom of the plant.
They have a reservoir right on the grounds.

Many different kinds of pineapples grow in this garden.
Roosters and Chicken are everywhere on Oahu :)
I've even seen them at Walmart.
Dole Whip- sweet, refreshing, yummy!
