One of my favorite things to do is find a new place to visit here in Western Mass.
So, I hopped online, visited a State Park site and just picked one :)
You park right near the gorge. There is a Park Ranger collecting $2.50 per person.
Well worth it, especially since she shared her bug spray with us.
We walked along the top of the gorge through a carpet of leaves and moss.
You can't tell from the pictures how high us we are.
The gorge is pretty deep but the view is limited.
The rock walls give way to trees and rocks as you follow Westfield River.
There is a nice roadway to walk down that can also be traveled by car or bike
The woods were shady and cool.
Something to look at everywhere your eyes roamed.
The road gradually brought you down to river level.
There were many places to go down to the river and lots of views from the road.
People were fly fishing, picnicking, and swimming.
Soon we were entering this State Forest.
The road left the river for a little while, then came back around to it.
Can you see Ken at the top of this rock?
We found a bunch of red salamanders on top and around this rock.

I accidentally put in a page break :(
We found a nice flat rock in the river to have lunch on.
Nice view!
We saw some pretty neat fungus in the forest.
Sorry about the number of pictures but it was an amazing place.
