Bud & Chris in Hawaii, 2017 Visitors #5, And honorable mention #6

June 2017 brought our fifth guests of the year, Bud & Chris.
Coming from the shores of New Jersey to the shores of Oahu.

They visited Kauai during their stay with us,
but you'll have to get with them to see those pictures

Here's some of our adventures with them.

On the way to our first hike we visited the remains of King Kamehameha's summer home.

Then we headed up a river bed to see this beautiful Lulumahu Falls

Stopped at a scenic overlook on the way home

A nice beach hike brought us up close and personal with these large sea turtles.
They've been protected for so long, they just ignore pesky tourists!

Turtle selfie

We had some fun snorkeling at Paradise Cove, my favorite place to snorkel.

A few Baywatch pictures :)

And, dinner at my favorite restaurant

La Mariana's Sailing Club

On the 4th of July, the base had a big festival featuring a band that played all U2 stuff

The evening ended with a stunning fireworks display.

Another hike we took was the 3 1/2 mile walk up Kaena Point.

On the way we found these 2 monk seals sunning at Hidden Beach.

At the end of the hike is an albatross reserve where we saw more monk seals.

Ready for the 31/2 mile trek back!

We saw some beautiful sunsets over Pearl Harbor right beyond our back yard!

We had a lot of fun together, maybe we'll go visit them on the Jersey Shore next time :)

Visitor's #6 came in September while we were in Boston
and visiting family in Victor and Lockport.

The Riemer family stayed at our home, fed our cat, watered our plants,
and picked us up at the airport.
We were lucky to have a few days with them before they had to head home.
